Leading speakers, such as William Mieler, MD, and Michael Stewart, MD, will present the Ophthalmology experts to speak at Technicians & Nurses Program continued on page 58 T he Technicians & Nurses Program presents two innovative clinical and sur- gical/ambulatory surgical center (ASC) tracks at the ASCRS and International Joint Commis- sion on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO) pro- gram. The Technicians & Nurses Program will begin this afternoon and run through Sunday, with more than 25 courses offered during the 2-and-a-half-day event. Registrants will also receive an additional five on-demand, virtual courses included in their registration package. "The Technicians & Nurses Program is designed to advance clinical staff performance on the state-of-the-art treatments and technologies that will improve a D esigned to prepare technicians for the Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) written examination, IJCAHPO will conduct an in-person COT Certification Exam Prep Course today from 12:00–4:30 p.m. This interactive course, present- ed by Barbara Harris, PA, MBA, will cover all content areas on the examination and will pro- vide an introduction to the sim- ulation component of the exam by utilizing IJCAHPO's Learning Systems. Attendees will receive a complimentary copy of the IJCAHPO COT Study Guide to assist in exam preparation. "This prep course is for technicians who are interest- ed in taking the next step in their career and investing in their skills, knowledge, and future," Ms. Harris said. "It will provide an overview of all examination content areas to help attendees identify where to focus their study time, in- cluding areas where they want to build confidence and study more effectively. While exam prep courses do not guarantee passing a certification exam, the prep course is designed to improve test results and readi- ness to take the examination." Registration is open to all Certified Ophthalmic As- sistants (COAs) or students enrolled in an accredited COT program. Attendees must register separately from the main Technicians and Nurses Program on IJCAHPO's website, www.jcahpo.org. Certification examination prep course supports technicians advancing their careers
