ASCRS ANNUAL MEETING DAILY NEWS
T
he 39th ASCRS Film Fes-
tival Watch Party will take
place on Monday from
12:30–2:00 p.m. Attend-
ees are encouraged to bring their
lunches and watch the event.
The ASCRS Film Festival is
not quite back to its usual format.
The Film Festival this year will be
a fully pre-recorded event with
winners filming their reactions to
receiving an award.
"It is a great pleasure to once
again bring together a superb
panel of ophthalmologists/judg-
es for the ASCRS Film Festival,"
said Shachar Tauber, MD, chair
of the ASCRS Film Festival. "We
are honored as judges to evaluate
and learn from these films from
around the world."
Each year, ophthalmologists
submit films for consideration in
the categories of: Cataract Im-
plant Surgery, Glaucoma Surgery,
Instruments & Devices/IOLs,
In-House Production, Special
Interest, New Producer/Young
Physician, Quality Teaching, New
Techniques, Cataract Compli-
cations, and Refractive/Cornea
Surgery. A winner and runner-up
are selected within each catego-
ry, and an overall grand prize is
awarded.
"The producers have done a
marvelous job in creating these
films. Despite the fact that the
Film Festival will once again be
virtual [broadcast as a recording],
I think that the ASCRS member-
ship will enjoy and learn from
these fine physicians who have
taken the time to put into video
the best of eyecare," Dr. Tauber
said. "The judges and I salute
the producers, especially during
these most difficult times. We
look forward to the 2022 ASCRS
Annual Meeting in Washington,
D.C., where we all can share a red
carpet celebration of ophthalmic
films."
