62 | EYEWORLD DAILY NEWS | APRIL 22, 2022 ASCRS ANNUAL MEETING DAILY NEWS A ttendees might use the ASCRS ASOA Meetings app to access Annual Meeting programming and schedules while at the Annual Meeting, but this is no longer ASCRS' only app. ASCRS is launching a new app for year-round member communication and educational en- gagement. The ASCRS app offers a new way to access ASCRS tools and calculators, news and events, and clinical edu- cation. It also offers features like the ability to chat with member contacts and engage in discussions on forums. The first thing users will see on the app is the News Feed, and they can scroll through for the latest news and offerings from ASCRS. The News Feed also easily connects users to EyeWorld articles and ASCRS social media, all in one interface. Users can change their profile picture, review and renew their mem- bership, and more. In the "More" tab along the bottom of the app, they will find messages, a schedule where they can add ASCRS events, and access to advocacy information, the ASCRS Foundation, and other resources. Users can download the ASCRS app from the Apple App Store and Google Play by searching "ASCRS" or "American Society of Cataract and Re- fractive Surgery." Then they can create or log in to their ASCRS account for access to content commensurate with ASCRS membership status. Meet the new ASCRS app V isit Attendee Central in the Grand Lobby of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and show a staff member that you downloaded the ASCRS app. The first 500 people will receive a complimentary wireless phone charger. They can share their thoughts and experiences on these forums. From a digital community building standpoint, the app will allow members to message each other directly and privately. There is also a tool (the QR hub) that allows users to share contact information easily without having to carry business cards. They can use the tool to scan other users' cards direct- ly and bring them into their profile, creating a personal Rolodex of ASCRS members.
