On Sunday afternoon, Bennie Jeng, MD, will discuss new innovations in treating corneal disease in his pre- sentation, "Artificial Corneas: What's New and When to Use." "Artificial corneas have been used for decades, but their use is limited to specific indi- cations," Dr. Jeng said. "We will cover the available types, indications for use, complications, and outcomes and successes of artificial corneas." All courses in the Technicians & Nurses Program have been approved for IJCAHPO CE credit. Select courses are approved for CA BRN credit. An additional 2 (IJCAHPO L eading ophthalmic faculty from the U.S., Canada, India, and Italy will present 28 CE credit hours on topics to advance clinical staff performance and improve patient care at the International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Oph- thalmology (IJCAHPO) Technicians & Nurses Program. The speakers will present current trends, research, treat- ments, surgical procedures, technolo- gies, and updates on important issues facing ophthalmic practices and their eyecare teams. Prashant Garg, MBBS, MS, will present "Pyramidal Model and Role of AOP in Eye Care Delivery" on Sunday morning. This insightful course will review many healthcare challenges in developing nations, including sub- optimal healthcare systems and the shortage of trained personnel. The course will cover the out-of-the-box thinking that is needed in order to make health- and eyecare available in rural areas globally. Key retina courses will be covered on Saturday and Sunday, including Technicians & Nurses Program: Gain tips and pearls from leaders in ophthalmology F or the second year, the Inter- national Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO) is conducting Certification Exam- ination Prep Courses to support technicians advancing their careers. Held today, courses are designed to prepare technicians for their Cer- tified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) multiple choice examination. The COA Examination Prep Course, presented by Faith Race, COT, and the COT Examination Prep Course, presented by Barbara Harris, PA, MBA, will provide a general review of all content areas covered in the certification examination. "Attending these courses will help technicians identify where to focus their study time, build confi- dence, study more effectively, and feel more prepared to take their examination," Ms. Race said. "While these courses do not guarantee pass- ing a certification exam, they are designed to improve test results and readiness to test."
