-Rounds – Refractive Surgery
to the Max is an annual sym-
posium at the Annual Meet-
ing. It was back this year as
a fast-paced session featuring, what
moderator Eric Donnenfeld, MD, said
is "the latest and greatest in cata-
ract and refractive surgery." During
the session, the panelists each gave
2.5-minute presentations answering
different questions. The audience
then voted for their favorite presen-
tation in each category.
Participants included Nicole
Fram, MD, John Hovanesian, MD,
Cathleen McCabe, MD, Kerry Solo-
mon, MD, and Elizabeth Yeu, MD.
Dr. Solomon and Dr. Yeu share their pearls on
various topics in the X-Rounds session.

aturday's Main Stage pro-
gram kicked off with session
moderator Nicole Fram, MD,
introducing the theme of
"sustainability."
David Chang, MD, Oliver
Findl, MD, John Hovanesian, MD,
and Aakriti Shukla, MD, took the
stage to discuss EyeSustain, a
global sustainability consortium.
Dr. Hovanesian noted EyeSustain's
collaboration with industry as well.
"The companies who sell us the
equipment and supplies are every bit
as interested in sustainability as our
surgeons and staffs are," he said.
Dr. Shukla encouraged more
people to get involved and take the
EyeSustain surgical facility pledge
to reduce unnecessary ophthalmic
surgical waste.
ASCRS Executive Director Steve
Speares took the stage to recognize
Dr. Chang, who is stepping down
as ASCRS Foundation Chair, for his
many years of service to ASCRS.
Dr. Donnenfeld delivers the Binkhorst Lecture
and receives the award from Dr. Fram.
