ASOA announces new Board
T
he American Society of
Ophthalmic Administrators
(ASOA) announced its
new president is Sondra
Hoffman, COE, CPC,
CMPE, Florida Eye Clinic, Altamonte
Springs, Fla.
The immediate past president
is Liz Parrott, COE, Raleigh Ophthal-
mology,
Raleigh, N.C.
The president elect is John S.
Bell, MBA, COE, North Suburban
Eye Associates, Wakefield, Mass. The
vice president is Daniel Chambers,
MBA, COE, Key Whitman Eye
Center, Dallas.
Members at large of the ASOA
Board of Directors include Ashlie L.
Barefoot, MBA, COE, Carolina
Cataract and Laser Center, Ladson,
S.C.; Linda Georgian, COE, Inland

portance of advocacy in
ophthalmology received
Administrative Eyecare
(AE) Editor's Choice
Award at ASOA's Opening General
Session (OGS) on Saturday.
This award recognizes the best
ASOA member-authored article
published in Administrative Eyecare
during the preceding calendar
year. The award was established to
recognize and thank contributing
authors and to encourage new
writing contributions for the
future.
Articles are reviewed and
scored by the Administrative
Eyecare Editorial Board.
This year's award-winning
article is "Legislation Nation—
Getting Involved with Advocacy
Issues Affecting Ophthalmology
Today," written by Vonda Syler,
COE. The article was published in
the Fall 2013 issue of AE.
This is the second year that
the Administrative Eyecare Editor's
Choice Award has been given out.
Administrative Eyecare focuses
on issues relevant to ophthalmic
administrators. It publishes in
print six times a year.
