1 EW SHOW DAILY World Cornea Congress VII, San Diego 2015 digital.eyeworld.org EyeWorld Daily News • The official World Cornea Congress VII Daily Thursday, April 16, 2015 Dear World Cornea Congress VII attendees: I , my co-chairs Donald T.H. Tan, FRCS, and Marian S. Macsai, MD, and the entire Program Committee, Michael W. Belin, MD, Kathy Colby, MD, Terry Kim, MD, Barry Lee, MD, and Enzo Sarnicola, MD, wish you a warm welcome to sunny San Diego for World Cornea Congress VII (WCCVII). We hope you enjoyed the Wel- come Reception last evening and caught up with old friends and col- leagues. The Opening Ceremony will be this morning at 9:40 a.m. You do not want to miss it! There will be a brief but enlightening video of Mark Mannis, MD, reviewing the history of the Cornea Society and the World Cornea Congress. To top it off, we will have an extraordinary perfor- mance by Freelusion. Freelusion is a mixture of contemporary dance and 3D projection mapping. Since 2009, they have had more than 100 shows in more than 25 countries on 4 con- tinents. This award-winning dance troupe comes from Hungary and has been on primetime talent shows such as America's Got Talent, Britain's Got Talent, Fake Off, and dozens of other TV productions in Europe and Asia. It is not to be missed! The corporate luncheonettes are a new addition to this year's World Cornea Congress. On both Thursday and Friday, some of our corporate partners are providing lunch while updating attendees on their prod- ucts. Space is limited, so please sign up early if you're interested. For the majority of the meet- ing, there will be an Invited Speaker session in one lecture hall and a Free Paper session at the same time in the other lecture hall. Session topics in- clude: endothelial keratoplasty; pen- etrating keratoplasty and keratopros- thesis; ocular surface disease; world health and eye banking; keratoconus and lamellar grafts; dystrophies, de- generations and genetics; infections and inflammations; and corneal tis- sue engineering and wound healing. The keynote speakers for the invited paper sessions are: Francis W. Price Jr., MD, Elisabeth J. Cohen, MD, Thomas Kohnen, MD, Edward J. Holland, MD, Shigeru Kinoshita, MD, Ken Nischal, MD, Roberto Pineda, MD, Paul Tambyah, MD, and Charles McGhee, MD. We will have more than 75 free papers and 235 electronic posters. We expect this to be the best World Cornea Congress ever. The big news is that for the first time, we will have simul- taneous translation into Spanish for the entire meeting. As excited as we are about this year's meeting, we have already begun initial planning for World Cornea Congress VIII. For the first time ever, it will be held outside the United States. It is scheduled to be in Singapore from July 8–9, 2020, in association with the Asia-Pacific Christopher J. Rapuano, MD Message from the Cornea Society president Association of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons and the Asia Cornea Soci- ety. We hope to see you all there. Meanwhile, sit back and enjoy World Cornea Congress VII and San Diego! Sincerely, Christopher J. Rapuano, MD, program chair of World Cornea Congress VII, and president of the Cornea Society Freelusion, an award-winning dance troupe from Hungary, will be performing at today's Opening Ceremony.
