35 EW SHOW DAILY Paper sessions The meeting will also feature 2 paper sessions dedicated to glaucoma topics, with one session focusing on surgical outcomes and one on diagnostic techniques and measure- ments. The first session, taking place on Sunday from 1:00–2:30 p.m., will highlight surgical outcomes in a variety of glaucoma procedures. Investigators will present research detailing outcomes of supraciliary microstent implantation in combi- nation with phaco, IOP reduction after cataract surgery with trabecular micro-bypass devices, the effects of phaco time on IOP reduction, the outcome of placing multiple tra- becular microstents as a standalone procedure, and more. The glaucoma "Techniques and Measurements" paper session will take place on Monday from 1:00– 2:30 p.m. This session will explore the use of sealant as an adjunct to conjunctival closure in filtering surgery, a comparative analysis of 4 IOP measurement techniques, IOP changes during inverted positions, thalassemia intermedia that "mas- querades" as neovascular glaucoma, and more. EW by Lauren Lipuma EyeWorld Staff Writer both valved and non-valved tubes. Faculty members will also discuss how to choose the proper procedure for each individual patient and the use of adjunctive therapy. Two courses on Monday will focus on the surgical management of cataracts and glaucoma. Ahmad K. Khalil, MD, PhD, Cairo, Egypt, will instruct "Surgery for Coexisting Cataract and Glaucoma: The Uneasy Relationship" from 8:00–9:30 a.m., which will focus on the various options for managing these coex- isting conditions, featuring surgical video presentations and interactive discussions. In the afternoon, Bradford J. Shingleton, MD, Boston, will instruct a course on glaucoma in patients with pseudoexfoliation syndrome, "Surgical Management of Cataract and Glaucoma: Special Em- phasis on Pseudoexfoliation—How to Avoid, Treat, and Correct Prob- lems." This course, which will take place from 3:00–4:30 p.m., will put emphasis on treating IOP, identify- ing and managing pupil and zonule issues, and correcting postoperative IOL problems in pseudoexfoliation patients. Glaucoma Surgery: Indications, Approaches, and Techniques," today from 1:00–2:30 p.m. The course, instructed by Iqbal "Ike" K. Ahmed, MD, Toronto, will provide a framework for the use of microstents in glaucoma, including the iStent (Glaukos, Laguna Hills, Calif.). Faculty members will discuss new approaches and indications, specific surgical techniques and pearls, and complication manage- ment. Attendees will have another chance to learn about MIGS in the "Ultimate MIGS Triple Procedure" course on Sunday from 3:00–4:30 p.m. This course, instructed by Parag D. Parekh, MD, MPA, Brookville, Pa., will feature a panel discussion of the pros and cons of the iStent + cataract + ECP (ICE) triple procedure and its place in the glaucoma treatment paradigm. Comprehensive ophthalmolo- gists who want to learn glaucoma procedures can attend "Trabeculec- tomies and Tube Shunts for the Comprehensive Ophthalmologist" on Sunday from 1:00–2:30 p.m. In this course, faculty will use surgical videos to demonstrate step-by-step techniques of performing trabe- culectomies and tube shunts with G laucoma offerings at this year's annual meeting include symposia, courses, and free paper sessions. Glaucoma sessions are designed for both glaucoma special- ists and comprehensive ophthalmol- ogists, focusing on technological advances in diagnostics, medications and laser treatments, pearls for surgi- cal care, and more. Symposia On Sunday from 8:00–9:30 a.m., the ASCRS Glaucoma Clinical Commit- tee will present "Controversies in Cataract and Glaucoma," a sym- posium focused on the main issues regarding coexisting glaucoma and cataracts. Speakers will discuss the idea of cataract extraction as a prima- ry procedure for both open- and closed-angle glaucoma, the best IOLs for glaucoma patients, combining phaco and endoscopic cyclophoto- coagulation (ECP), and femtosecond cataract extraction in glaucoma patients. Courses Those interested in learning about microinvasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) can attend "Microinvasive ASCRS•ASOA Symposium & Congress, San Diego 2015 Glaucoma: Sessions you won't want to miss "The Fine Art of Descemet's Membrane Endothelial Keratoplas- ty" will take place from 3:00–4:30 p.m. in room 6F. The course will offer tips on using DMEK in your practice and include information on patient selection, tissue handling and insertion, and postop manage- ment. "Pardon the Ophthalmology: Hot Topics in Cornea and External Disease" will be held from 3:00–4:30 p.m. in ballroom 20ABC. Monday, April 20 "Update on Corneal Collagen Crosslinking," a symposium jointly sponsored by the Cornea Clinical Committee and Refractive Surgery Clinical Committee, will take place from 8:00–9:30 a.m. in room 6A. Discussions will focus on clinical trial updates, epi-off versus epi- on technique, crosslinking in the pediatric population, non-ectatic indications, ancillary refractive treat- ments, future enhancements in UV light delivery, new technologies in riboflavin formulation and deliv- ery, complications, and regulatory perspectives. Free paper sessions on Monday include the following, starting in the morning: Paper Session 3-B, "Cornea Surgical Technique and Technolo- gy," will take place from 8:00–9:30 a.m. in room 1B. The paper session will cover phototherapeutic kera- tectomy, microkeratome-assisted superficial anterior lamellar kerato- plasty, long-term outcomes of deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty in keratoconus patients, and correction of high astigmatism post DALK with femtosecond laser-assisted ICRS implantation, among others. Paper Session 3-G, "Cornea Dry Eye and Biomechanics," will take place from 1:00–2:30 p.m. in room 1B. Attendees will learn about topics including corneal transition layer, the ocular surface before and after orbital decompression, and corneal changes in Fuchs' endothelial dys- trophy after femtosecond laser-as- sisted cataract surgery. Tuesday, April 21 On the last day of the meeting, Paper Session 4-B, "Cornea Imaging and Topography," takes place from 8:00–9:30 a.m. in room 3. Topics will include polarimetric interfer- ometry, a new tearscope made of paper for lipid layer evaluation in tear film-related disease, and change of posterior keratometric value after cataract surgery.
