CME program offers
strategies by experts
to improve refractive
cataract surgery outcomes
T
his evening, Edward
Holland, MD, will lead a
symposium of experts dis-
cussing the "X factors" of
refractive cataract surgery,
Many programs provide an
overview of intraoperative skills and
the latest devices; however, today's
program will outline 3 areas that
every surgeon can adopt immedi-
ately to optimize outcomes. The
symposium is designed to maximize
key takeaways for the intended audi-
ence—physicians who are perform-
ing refractive cataract surgery and
looking to maximize results. These
"X factors" include: optimizing the
ocular surface prior to surgery; strat-
egies to reduce residual error; and re-
ducing or eliminating inflammation
through maximizing penetration of
anti-inflammatory agents and reduc-
ing ultrasound energy.
This EyeWorld CME symposium
will take place in the San Diego Con-
vention Center, in Hall E, EyeWorld
Theater II today. Reception and
registration will take place at 5:00
p.m. with the hour-long program
to follow from 5:30–6:30 p.m. This
program is supported by unrestrict-
ed grants from Alcon (Fort Worth,
Texas) and Omeros (Seattle). Onsite
registration is available. EW
