Institution of Oceanography with
UC San Diego, the Birch Aquarium
overlooks the Pacific Ocean and has

invertebrates.

the Science Center has to offer.
It has permanent and rotating
exhibits, as well as an IMAX theater.
The museum is open from 10:00

The region's oldest and largest art
museum, the San Diego Museum
of Art houses a renowned collec-
tion of European, American, Asian,
contemporary, and Latin American
art. Check out the "Divine Desire:
Printmaking, Mythology, and
the Birth of the Baroque" exhibit,
showcasing engravings from the
16th and 17th centuries in northern
Europe and Italy. The engravings
reveal the artists' perceptions of
the romantic entanglements of
the gods of Classical Antiquity
and how they reflect Reformation
and Counter-Reformation Europe.
It runs from March 21 through June.
The museum is open daily 10:00
a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 12:00 p.m. to 5:00
p.m. Sundays, and closed Wednes-
days. General admission is $12.
Museum of Photographic Arts

One of the few art museums in
the country devoted specifically to
photography, film, and video, the
Museum of Photographic Arts ex-
hibits represent the entire history of
photography, including documenta-
ry photography and photojournal-
ism. Check out the multimedia exhi-
bition "7 billion Others," consisting
of compelling video portraits from
more than 6,000 individual inter-
views filmed in 84 countries that
pose many thought-provoking ques-
tions about the human condition. It
runs from February 21 to September
27. The museum is open Tuesday
through Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00
p.m. General admission is $8.
San Diego Museum of Man

Located beneath the ornate
California Tower, the Museum of
Man is San Diego's only museum
devoted to anthropology. Check out
the "BEERology" exhibit, featuring
fascinating stories and artifacts that
reveal the links between beer and
culture, including a solid gold cup
an Incan king used for drinking beer.
It runs through summer 2015. The
museum is open daily from 10:00
a.m. to 5:00 p.m. General admission
is $12.50.
San Diego Air & Space Museum

An affiliate of the Smithsonian
Institution, the museum houses a
collection of historic aircraft and
spacecraft from all over the world,
including a working replica of
Charles Lindbergh's Spirit of St.
Louis and the Apollo 9 Command
Module. Visitors can view artifacts
from the Wright Brothers,
Amelia Earhart, Neil Armstrong,
Buzz Aldrin, and other air and
space pioneers. The museum is
open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30
p.m. General admission is $18.
