"It is a tremendous honor for me to now have the opportunity to follow such an accomplished group of chief medical editors," he said. In that 2011 editorial, Dr. Chang also said he was truly excited to work with the new editorial team. "With so many different trade magazines competing for readers' attention, our goal is to continue to provide timely and balanced cover- age of the most clinically relevant subjects for our broad and diverse base of readers," Dr. Chang said in 2011. In his first "Chief medical edi- tor's corner of the world," to debut in the May 2015 edition of EyeWorld, Dr. Donnenfeld said he is excited to take on the role as chief medical edi- tor in the current innovative climate in ophthalmology, and honored to follow Dr. Chang as chief medical editor. "Under [Dr. Chang's] leadership, the publication has grown and ma- tured into the preeminent periodical in ophthalmology and a must-read for all of us who seek to incorporate in-depth, clinician-oriented, state-of- the-art information into our ever-ex- panding specialty," Dr. Donnenfeld said. Dr. Chang will now co-chair the ASCRS Foundation with Dr. Lane. Chang, MD, is stepping down as chief medical editor of EyeWorld after 4 years in the position, with Eric Donnenfeld, MD, stepping into the role. Dr. Chang came aboard EyeWorld as chief medical editor in April 2011, following Stephen Obstbaum, MD, who succeeded Marguerite McDonald, MD, the inaugural chief medical editor, in 2002, as well as Stephen Lane, MD, who became co-chief medical editor in 2004, and Edward Holland, MD, in 2009. In 2011, the editorial board also transitioned into section editors in 5 areas: cataract, refrac- tive, cornea, glaucoma, and inter- national ophthalmology. The first 5 section editors were Reay Brown, MD, Bonnie An Henderson, MD, Dr. Holland, Kerry Solomon, MD, and John Vukich, MD. Clara Chan, MD, and Dr. Donnenfeld have also served as cornea and refractive editors since then, respectively. Rosa Braga-Mele, MD, transitions into the cataract editor position in the April 2015 edition of EyeWorld. In his last "Chief medical editor's corner of the world" in the April 2015 edition, Dr. Chang said being chief medical editor was a privileged and rewarding personal experience. "With EyeWorld, I have been blessed to collaborate with and learn from a collegial team of talented friends that I respect and admire," he said. David F.
