EW SHOW DAILY 26 ASCRS News Today Saturday, May 7, 2016 T he entertainment that will precede this morning's ASCRS Opening General Session (OGS) will be sure to get you moving. MoJEAUX, the official band of the New Orleans Saints, the Sugar Bowl, and the BCS Collegiate Series, will bring their lively sounds to Great Hall A and D at 9:40 a.m., immedi- ately prior to the OGS at 10 a.m. MoJEAUX band members will perform their own renditions of New Orleans favorites, R&B, Motown, oldies, top 40, rock, funk, and disco. The ASCRS OGS will include presidents' addresses, Honored Guests, an ASCRS Foundation update, the Ophthalmology Hall of Fame inductees, and the ASCRS Binkhorst Lecture. EW Get a rousing start to your morning with local band MoJEAUX T en of ophthalmology's most outstanding residents are attending this year's annual meeting as a result of the ASCRS Foundation's Resi- dent Excellence Awards program. Each year, the foundation gives 10 travel grants to extraordinary residents through a competitive application process. The applica- tion period is open from October to January, and applicants must be nominated by their program directors. The foundation's Review Committee considers exemplary resident performance in the areas of research, patient care, leadership, and education. In addition to the travel grant, the ASCRS Foundation provides complimentary meeting registration and housing. The total awards pack- age offers sufficient financial support for 4 days of concentrated learning Resident Excellence Awards from ASCRS Foundation recognize outstanding students at the ASCRS•ASOA Symposium & Congress.
