EW SHOW DAILY 70 Meeting Reporter Saturday, May 7, 2016 5. They can take the survey on a smartphone until May 20 by downloading the ASCRS App. By completing the survey and providing either their ASCRS mem- bership number or email address, respondents will be entered into a daily raffle to win Apple products, plus the special drawing for a Tesla automobile at the conclusion of the meeting. In addition, they will be emailed a summary of the data shortly after the meeting. Most im- portantly, by completing the survey, respondents will be providing im- portant data to help influence future education. If desired, they can opt to remain anonymous and complete the survey, still providing ASCRS with important feedback. Using the ASCRS Clinical Survey to drive education This survey data will be analyzed and presented to the ASCRS leader- ship and Clinical Committees for review. At that point, they will deter- mine if there are needs that should be addressed in future educational offerings. If educational needs are identi- fied, they will be used to influence future ASCRS programming. The goal is for future programming to help address the ever-evolving edu- cational needs of ASCRS members. This will be an exciting way to pro- vide regular data and to track how specific education initiatives have changed opinions, understanding, and behavior. An EyeWorld supplement will be published this fall with a summary of the key findings from the survey. In addition, many future presen- tations and publications will be developed based on the survey data and identified education needs in the coming year. All current and his- torical survey data can be accessed at www.globaltrendsinophthalmology. com. ASCRS looks forward to rolling out multi-tactic, large-scale educa- tion programs to address the educa- tional needs identified in the survey. These programs will involve sympo- sia, publications, regional meetings, and Internet-based education to help physicians learn and commu- nicate with each other about some of the key clinical and technology topics they face today. EW Survey participants will be entered into a raffle for several prizes and will receive a summary report before it is published T he 2016 ASCRS•ASOA Sym- posium & Congress marks the launch of the fourth annual ASCRS Clinical Survey. The 2016 survey builds on the success of last year's survey, in which more than 2,000 ASCRS member ophthalmologists participated. While many surveys yield important data, the ASCRS Clinical Survey is unique in that it assesses key clinical opinions to identify specific educational efforts aimed at improving the practice of medicine. The survey will ask ASCRS members key questions relating to current issues they regularly face. The goal is to obtain opinions from a significant percentage of the membership and to have the results reviewed and interpreted by the ASCRS Clinical Committees. Using last year's survey as a foundation, the 2016 survey adds questions in evolving clinical and technological areas and specific questions targeted to young physicians. Data from the 2015 survey has been used to develop content for many of the symposia at this ASCRS•ASOA Symposium & Con- gress. The 2015 survey results were also used as criteria for driving more than 10 different ASCRS and EyeWorld Educational Symposia at this meeting. Information from the 2016 survey will be used to con- tinue to develop these programs and discover new areas for education. Prior survey results can be found at www.globaltrendsinophthalmology. com. The 2016 ASCRS Clinical Survey will include a wide range of contem- porary topics, including: • Management of residual error in presbyopia-correcting IOL patients • Understanding and perceptions of advanced tear film diagnostics • Evolving trends and perspectives with laser-assisted cataract surgery • Levels of postoperative rotation with toric IOLs • Actual and perceived incidence of dry eye with laser vision correc- tion • Posterior capsule rupture rates during cataract surgery • Today's outcomes and enhance- ment rates with advanced laser vision correction • Assessment and management of dry eye and meibomian gland disease • How well ophthalmologists are mitigating or eliminating post- cataract surgery inflammation • Management trends of glaucoma in conjunction with cataract surgery • Macular edema management and use of intravitreal injections • Exposure of advanced techniques and technology to young physi- cians How to participate ASCRS member ophthalmologists can complete this survey in 15 to 20 minutes during the annual meeting or online following the conference. The survey tool will permit members to identify their preferred category of questions (refractive, cataract, etc.), and the survey will then in- clude about 50 questions on various topics. Physicians can complete the survey in 5 different ways. 1.
