The Foundation's Robert Sinskey Eye In- stitute in Addis Ababa treated more than 24,000 patients in 2017, and the U.S.-based Operation Sight pro- gram recently delivered its 2,000th free cataract surgery to an American in need, Mr. Bell said. EW The event, which begins at 6:30 a.m., will have pre- and post-race entertainment, food and drinks, T-shirts for registrants, medals for all finishers, and other giveaways. Top race finishers will be recognized on the Foundation's website. Registration for the race is available online and onsite at the Convention Center. Bus transporta- tion to and from the National Mall will be provided. With the sponsorship of John- son & Johnson Vision (Santa Ana, California), all 2018 race registra- tions will benefit the Foundation's Washington, D.C. Early-morning runners and walkers will watch the sun rise over the U.S. Capitol and see various monuments along the National Mall, along with several federal buildings, embassies, and congressional offices. Don Bell, director of the ASCRS Foundation, Fairfax, Virginia, de- scribed the 5K course as a "fun route on America's main street." "In the past, the race has drawn close to 400 runners," Mr. Bell said. "We think this is a one-of-a-kind route that will bring our largest crowd yet."
