Located outside of the city in Virgin-
ia, the Tysons Corner area has much
to offer. There are two shopping
malls in the immediate area: Tysons
Corner Center and Tysons Galle-
ria. Tysons Corner Center features
dozens of stores, including many
large department stores like Macy's,
Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, and
Lord & Taylor, as well as Banana
Republic, Fossil, Gap, Coach, and
more. Meanwhile, Tysons Galleria
features a number of high-end stores
including Chanel, Gucci, Michael
Kors, Neiman Marcus, Prada, and

This shopping area is located along
New York Avenue and features many
shops and restaurants, as well as of-
fice and living spaces. Shops include
high-end retailers like Burberry,

more. The shopping area also holds
a number of events.

Located just outside of D.C., Old
Town Alexandria features galleries,
boutiques, and other stores. Visitors
can shop for clothes, jewelry, food,
and more. The area also has many
restaurants, events, and beautiful
views of the waterfront.

Eastern Market is a popular shop-
ping destination in the Capitol Hill
area and has a number of markets
with a variety of food products and
more. Eastern Market has been op-
erating for more than 100 years and
includes both indoor and outdoor
stalls.

The Georgetown Park and down-
town Georgetown areas feature
many shopping opportunities on
and around M Street in Washington,
D.C. The area has popular shops
like Banana Republic, Alex and Ani,
Urban Outfitters, Vineyard Vines,

boutiques and local shops selling
clothing, jewelry, and more.

Still fairly new, the Tanger Outlets
are located about 15–20 minutes
outside of Washington, D.C. at
National Harbor. Stores include
Calvin Klein, H&M, J.Crew, Tommy

Potomac River cruise
Various companies offer tours by
boat on the Potomac River. Many of
the monuments can be viewed by
boat, or you can select a cruise near
Alexandria or Mount Vernon. Tour
companies include the Potomac
Riverboat Company, National River
Tours, Boomerang Tours, and more.
A variety of tour lengths are avail-
able, and prices vary. Many offer the
option of booking a private tour.
Viator tours
The Viator company offers a variety
of tours around D.C., giving visitors
the option to tour by Segway, bus,
boat, trolley, and more. Popular sites
include the memorials, Mount Ver-
non, Alexandria, and Capitol Hill.

Alexandria's Original Ghost
& Graveyard Tour
If you're looking for something
unique, visit Old Town Alexan-
dria and take one of the ghost and
graveyard tours led by Alexandria
Colonial Tours. An 18th century cos-
tumed guide leads visitors by lantern
around Alexandria's Old Town and
tells stories. Public tours are $13 for
adults.
Cherry blossom tours
Many companies offer bus tours,
Segway tours, and more to see the
famous cherry blossoms in bloom.
The cherry blossoms are also in full
view for those traveling on foot near
many of the monuments.
Mount Vernon
Mount Vernon was George Wash-
ington's home and is located on the
Potomac River. Admission is $20
for adults ($18 if booked online).
Mount Vernon is open year-round
and is located just outside of D.C.
near Alexandria. Visitors can visit
the mansion, gardens, and other
sites on the property.
