This patient had never worn readers or progressives and liked to read one book a week. Panelist Kendall Donaldson, MD, Plantation, Florida, said she always worries about lower myopes who are not used to wearing glasses. "We have to worry about their lifestyle and how we might change their lifestyle," she said, adding that she will often use a ReSTOR 2.5 (Alcon, Fort Worth, Texas) in these patients and has had success with mini-monovision as well. "I always talk to patients to tell them this isn't a one eye process … this is two eyes and we'll reassess after the first eye."
