APRIL 22, 2022 | EYEWORLD DAILY NEWS | 9 ASCRS ANNUAL MEETING DAILY NEWS "We're trying to hone the program to keep what seems to be exciting for the attendees and evolve other topics to keep it fresh," Dr. Mah said. "We have put together an excellent Cornea Day program this year that covers a spectrum of topics that will interest both the cornea specialist as well as comprehensive doctors who treat office-based corneal disease," said Program Chair Marjan Farid, MD. The program will also feature a govern- ment relations presentation from Parag Parekh, MD. "We are looking forward to a great day of education and comradery," Dr. Farid said. P rogram Chair Francis Mah, MD, said that the 2022 Cornea Day program seeks to "hone-in on what attendees enjoy about Cornea Day." One of the unique aspects is that it's the ASCRS Cornea Clinical Committee directing, moderating, and formulating the entire program with the best educators and presenters from around the world participating, Dr. Mah said. This year, Cornea Day will have four sections, focusing on management of keratoconus and corneal ectasia, anterior/posterior lamellar surgery, the ocular surface, and challenging corneal cases. The first section, covering updates in management of keratoconus and corneal ectasia, will be moderated by Ken Beckman, MD, and Zachary Zavodni, MD. Crosslinking will be cov- ered, and other presentations will focus on INTACS, topography-guided PRK, scleral lenses, and genetic testing. The second section of the pro- gram will focus on anterior/posterior lamellar surgery, primarily DMEK and DSAEK. "This has always been a popular subject for the clinical corneal specialists," Dr. Mah said. Presentations on DALK and DSO/DWEK will also be included. "The ocular surface remains a very important topic," Dr. Mah said. "This ranges from the core dry eye and co-conspirators to more difficult issues like neurotrophic keratitis and severe ocular surface disease with various ap- proaches, which are more involved and need teams and tertiary care." The last section will focus on challenging corneal cases, which Dr. Mah said was popular on last year's program. This will include infections, inflammation, and tumors.
