phthalmic Women Leaders
(OWL) will host a variety of
events during this year's
meeting. One event you
won't want to miss is the OWL
Annual Awards Reception, which
will be held on Monday from 5:30
to 7 p.m. at the Renaissance Water-
front Hotel Atlantic Ballroom. This
signature "OWL Monday" reception
starts with a panel discussion moder-
ated by OWL president Marsha Link,
PhD, along with Audrey Talley
Rostov, MD, Murthy Simhambatla,
PhD, and Joan-Marie Stiglich.
After the panel discussion,
OWL's
annual awards will be pre-
sented to the winners of this year's
Visionary Woman Award, Catalyst
Award, and Rising Star Award.
The reception is free for OWL
professional and premier members
and $25 for nonmembers.
Today from 3:00 to 4 p.m.,
discover how changing your body
language
can change the way others
perceive you. "Strike a Power Pose:
Change the Way You See Yourself"
will cover the research of social psy-
chologist Amy Cuddy, who reveals
how you can alter your body chem-
istry—and chances for success—by
employing power poses. Dr. Susan
Orr will facilitate the session. The
session is free for OWL professional
and premier members and $35 for
nonmembers.
On Sunday from 7:00 to 8:00
a.m., OWL will host "Standing Out:
Maximize Your Impact in a Macro
Environment." This breakfast round-
table will provide strategies and ap-
proaches to help attendees achieve
their goals and excel. The session
will be led by Heather Ready, with
special guests Giulia Newton,
Laurie Brown, Sue Moriera, and
Tammy Bogetti.
There will be a Sunday mentor-
ing session from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.,
free for OWL professional and
premier members and $35 for
nonmembers.
On Monday, don't miss OWL's
7:00 to 8:30 a.m. breakfast session
"Great Expectations: The Commu-
nity of Ophthalmic Women Leaders
Business Owners." Attendees will
take part in face-to-face networking
and lively discussions around the
pleasures, challenges, and satisfac-
tion of self-employment in the
ophthalmic sector. Ellen Troyer, MT
MA, will moderate the event, along
with Tammy Evans, Cynthia Barratt,
LaVon Keliner, and Marsha Link,
PhD. The session is free for OWL
premier members and $50 for
nonmembers.
OWL is an organization for
professional development and ad-
vancement of women in the eyecare
business. It is led by female execu-
tives and industry experts and
includes members from the
medical and corporate communities.
