The ASOA OGS will feature remarks by outgoing ASOA presi- dent Sondra Hoffman, COE, CPC, CMPE, Florida Eye Clinic, Altamon- te Springs, Fla. Ms. Hoffman will The outgoing National Board for the Certification of Ophthal- mic Executives (NBCOE) president William T. Koch, CPC, COE, The Retina Institute, St. Louis, as well as incoming NBCOE president Charla Ferchow, COE, Eye Physicians of Central Florida, Maitland, Fla., will participate in the OGS. The OGS will feature various recognitions, including presentation of the 2015 Administrative Eyecare Editor's Choice Award, the Pinnacle Award for Volunteerism, the 2015 ASOA Fellow, and the recogni- tion of new Certified Ophthalmic Executives (COEs), past presidents, fellows, and committees and task- forces. Global adventurer Paul Deegan will lead the keynote address "Into the Unknown: Leading Your Team in an Uncertain World." Using his experience as a global adventurer leading teams on chal- lenging expeditions, Mr. Deegan will explain his philosophy for invisible leadership and describe why there can be no room for passengers on any team. Mr. Deegan has been stationed in the frozen Arctic Ocean and led an expedition to one of the world's last unexplored ranges. Mr. Deegan has made multiple attempts to climb Mt. Everest—even during one of the worst storms in Everest history, the 1996 storm described in the book Into Thin Air. Dozens of publications have featured stories on his achievements. His first book, The Mountain Trav- eler's Handbook, received an award at the U.S. National Outdoor Book Awards. Abbott Medical Optics (Abbott Park, Ill.) is the sponsor of the key- note address given by Mr. Deegan. Murthy Simhambhatla, PhD, senior vice president of Abbott Medical Optics, will speak at the OGS. Immediately following the OGS, attendees will have the chance to participate in the "Top 10 Roundta- bles" on a variety of topics. The OGS will take place in room 20D of the San Diego Convention Center with the "Top 10 Roundta- bles" taking place in room 29.
