EW SHOW DAILY 30 Dr. Malyugin is president of the Russian Society of Ophthalmologists and a board member of the Europe- an Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, as well as a member of the International Intraocular Implant Club and Academia Ophthalmologi- ca Internationalis. Dr. Malyugin is an internation- ally recognized expert in the field of modern anterior segment surgery, establishing himself at the forefront of advanced cataract and anteri- or segment surgery by pioneering numerous techniques and technolo- gies, including the Malyugin ring for pupil expansion, Malyugin modified CTR for scleral fixation, and other innovations. Well-known for his educational activities in Russia and abroad, he is continually invited to participate in lectures and live sur- gery sessions in numerous national and supranational meetings. Extensively published in litera- ture, he has coedited several books in different fields of ophthalmology and contributed to the printed and video atlases of ophthalmic surgery and Video Journal of Cataract and Re- fractive Surgery. He is a chief medical editor of Ophthalmosurgery Journal (Russia) and Russian Eurotimes. He is on the Editorial Board of EyeWorld, Journal of Cataract & Refractive Sur- gery, Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today, Eurotimes, Ocular Surgery News, and more. The Binkhorst Lecture will be part of the ASCRS Opening General Session from 10 a.m. to noon in lob- by level, West Hall A of the conven- tion center. Since its establishment by ASCRS in 1975 honoring intraocular lens pioneer Cornelius Binkhorst, MD, the Binkhorst Medal has been awarded annually to a recipient whose contributions to ophthalmic science and practice has established that individual among the world's most prominent ophthalmologists.
