n their 16th year of collabo-
ration, ASCRS and the Joint
Commission on Allied Health
Personnel in Ophthalmolo-
gy (JCAHPO) present a 3-day
Technicians & Nurses Program today
through Monday to advance clinical
staff performance and improve
patient care. Prominent faculty will
present 36 hours of leading top-
ics in ophthalmology for today's
successful clinical eyecare team. The
Technicians & Nurses Program is an
invaluable training session for all
ophthalmic clinical staff's growth
and development.
"This year's Technician & Nurses
Program will focus on current
thinking in ophthalmic research,
treatments, surgery and technolo-
gies, and elevate your eyecare team's
knowledge and skills to new levels,"
said Eydie Miller-Ellis, MD, JCAH-
PO president. "Continuous learning
of our eyecare team helps us as
ophthalmologists to increase both
the quality of our patient care and
our practices' productivity."
The two-track program in clini-
cal and nursing/ASC highlights hot
topics in legislative and regulatory
issues, coding, electronic medical
records, Lean Six Sigma, and trends
that are essential for the clinical
staff to keep pace in their practice.
Glaucoma, cataract, refractive,
and corneal surgery continue to
be the foundational courses with
the program. Important topics also
include corneal crosslinking, facial
injectables, eye banking, and clinical
research. New and current practices
in pharmacology, sterilization, toxic
anterior segment syndrome, refrac-
tion, and imaging will be presented.
The program includes basic, inter-
mediate, and advanced sessions.
The program consists of 36
courses and offers the opportunity
to earn a max of 18 CE credits per
person. Continuing education credit
for select courses has been approved
by JCAHPO, OPS, AOC, and CA
BRN. Additional Group B credits
are available by attending physi-
cian courses, symposia, and paper
sessions at ASCRS that are designat-
ed for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit.
